The Online Resume Writing Course is designed to equip students with essential skills to develop a professional, clear, and impactful resume that reflects their strengths, achievements, and career aspirations. In today’s competitive education and employment landscape, a well-structured resume is a critical tool for students to communicate their skills, experiences, and potential to employers, training institutions, and higher education providers.
Through this guided session, counsellors will support students in understanding the purpose of a resume, identifying relevant personal and academic information, and presenting it effectively according to current industry expectations. The course is delivered online to ensure accessibility, flexibility, and active student participation through practical exercises and real-world examples.
At the end of this session, students will be able to:
Understand the Purpose of a Resume
Explain the role of a resume in job applications, internships, on-the-job training (OJT), and further studies.
Identify Relevant Content for a Resume
Select appropriate personal details, education background, skills, achievements, and co-curricular involvement to include.
Apply Proper Resume Structure and Formatting
Organise information clearly using standard resume sections and professional formatting.
Write Clear and Impactful Resume Statements
Describe experiences, roles, and achievements using concise and action-oriented language.
Align Resume Content with Career Pathways
Tailor resume information according to students’ interests, strengths, and targeted career or study pathways.
Produce a Basic, Job-Ready Resume
Complete a draft resume that can be further refined for specific applications.
